Controls Engineer

Bowling Green, KY
The Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting the development of existing and new automated manufacturing equipment within the facility.
 
  • Observe and follow all UNIPRES safety rules and regulations including LO/TO
  • Maintain satisfactory work area through the implementation of 5S
  • Notify your supervisor of any safety issues of which you may become aware
  • Develop cost reduction activities for the scope of position within individual departments
  • Interact with production, plant maintenance, outside vendors and internal Management
  • Foster teamwork among all employees, demonstrating a willingness to share skills and information with others
  • Stay current on new technology
  • Proactively upgrade unsupported and obsolete control systems
  • Specify and verify controls requirements on new, existing and retrofit equipment
  • Document and archive accurate drawings
  • Train maintenance and production personnel on the use and troubleshooting of your designs
  • Support new equipment controls development through validation, start-up, and continuous process improvement
  • Support change control and validation
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Blend knowledge and analysis with logic, active listening and continuing interest in simplification
  • Analyze downtime factors, and assist in countermeasures. Document before and after results
  • Poka-yoke development to reduce scrap and quality cost associated with rejected material
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Job Requirements:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or other technical discipline preferred or minimum 5 years Industrial Plant Maintenance experience in an automated controls environment (other levels of experience/education are acceptable)
  • Minimum 3 years experience with PLC & HMI programming
  • 1-year experience with robot programming
  • Understand VFDs, Servos, sensors, Vision Systems, and AutoCAD
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Applications and other applicable applications)
  • Strong problem-solving skills, inherent curiosity, and “hands-on” engineering experience
  • Ability to prioritize and make progress on multiple projects simultaneously
