Job Description

We have been engaged by a highly profitable, global leading industrial company known for innovation, to find a Senior Buyer to drive aggressive cost reduction and supplier rationalization across several key categories for its top product line.
The parent company leads the world in its industrial products niche and has aggressively expanded the US market through acquisition, pushing innovation and operational upgrades; North America has been growing at 15% YOY for several years and targets $2B by 2020.  The business is going through an operational and cultural overhaul spearheaded by a West Point trained SVP of Operations recruited to drive Lean and continuous improvement across the firm; purchasing and supply chain are right at the heart of the renaissance happening at the firm. 
This is a key next hire for the business. We seek a proven Procurment professional who thrives on high-pressure challenges, is a world class performer and has a proven track record of driving efficiencies into manufacturing businesses. Key responsibilities include developing /implementing a cost improvement program for assigned commodities, performing supplier audits to evaluate current partners, negotiating business unit agreements, and working closely with design and manufacturing engineering to develop demand based supply systems. The winning candidate will be adept at and passionate about transforming a rapidly growing sector into a streamlined, efficient and profit driving area.  This is a rare opportunity to join a world-class, leading player who doesn’t often hire outside at this level.


Negotiation of assigned agreements and preparation of required contracts.

Development and implementation of an aggressive cost-reduction program for assigned commodities.

Ensures timely and thorough communication of required information to other business unit components.

Develops a material control plan to minimize obsolescence and reduce inventories.

Responsible for the purchasing of global commodities as assigned.

Monitors price trends of raw materials and commodities and recommends sources, timing, and quantity of purchases.

Maintains an accurate data base for current and potential suppliers, materials, prices, delivery dates, and inventories.

Obtains and analyzes quotations, issues purchase orders for direct material and expedites deliveries and shipments.

Must be able to successfully manage and execute several complex tasks simultaneously.

Ensures that Company standard procedures are followed in connection with purchases of materials and services.
