The Process Engineer s principally responsible for the engineering and support of ultra-precision machine systems for the electro-optics manufacturing industry. This position will utilize design of experiments, DMAIC, process FMEA and complex statistical analysis to characterize and optimize ultra-precision machine systems. The Process Engineer will have the ability to define and resolve engineering problems under general supervision of more experienced personnel. Typical projects are a combination of new process development and existing process refinement. Core Responsibilities • Utilize principles, theories, concepts, and techniques of engineering disciplines. • Solve mechanical problems using precision engineering practices under general supervision of more experienced personnel. • Complete small projects or phases/portions of larger projects. • Conceptualize and engineer new, unique processes that meet customer requirements. • Analyze diagnostic process data gathered from machine systems, subsystems, and accessories using statistical analysis tool such as JMP or Minitab and document results in engineering reports and customer presentations. • Create process workflows and instructions to communicate an appropriate level of detail to operators, engineers, and customers. • Prepare and release engineering reports (ER) according to standard procedures with extreme attention to detail of the experiment design, technical findings from data analysis, conclusions and proposed next steps. • Handle multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, while effectively managing priorities and communicating progress. • Actively participate in technical roadmap meetings and work directly with the engineering staff to develop cost effective solutions within the prescribed timeframe. • Interface with engineers and technicians of the other Moore business units to help coordinate overall technical activities wherever appropriate and desirable. • Ensure that all relevant data is collected, reviewed, and filed for all projects in accordance with standard procedures. • Regularly prepare and present detailed technical presentations to management and staff. • Contribute to written instruction and operation manuals. • Perform in-house technical support. • Help to achieve the completion of all projects within budget and on schedule. a PMT Group company - 2 - • Travel up to 10% of the time
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university and 5+ years of relevant processengineering work experience, or Master’s degree with 2+ years of process-engineering experience. • Efficient and effective use of engineering tools such as DMAIC, design of experiments, xFMEA, and statistics. • Demonstrated versatility and high competency levels in creativity and technical comprehension. • Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite. Preferred Education and Experience • Highly skilled in precision machining processes such as diamond turning, grinding, and micromilling • Proficient at performing machine diagnostics and testing related to error motion, vibration, and thermal sensitivity. • Experience with precision metrology instruments such as CMM, AFM, profilometry, interferometry • General knowledge of optics, related formulas, and quality metrics.
