Launch Manager

Candidates must have experience working as Program Manager, Launch Manager or similar within a Tier I Automotive environment supplying to General Motors.


  • Customer focused lead – works directly with customer to manage program expectations, timing, and costs. Is the point for communication  to the customer, driving internal support.
  • Program leader coordinating the efforts of all departments to meet program objectives
  • Responsible for meeting customer timing and deliverables
  • Leads internal Product Development meetings, represents the client at customer meetings
  • Coordinate RFQ/ECN/PCO change management with the commercial leads, program management and engineering
  • Ensure that releases are accurate and reflect the intent of the change so that downstream actions are efficient without rejects/rewrites
  • Work with cross-functional team members to scope product changes and follow through Client systems
  • Summarize & Drive changes on tracking documents to ensure that information is consolidated and available
  • Work with cross-functional team to improve “1st time through” rates for changes to streamline resources required to implement
  • Point person on program launch to assure all products meet company objectives.IE:
    • Run at Rate
    • Cost Cards
    • Scrap
    • Cycle times
    • All packaging fleet sizes
    • Overall project Financial Health
  • Participates in CI activities, 8D’s, Root Cause as products mature and next generations are developed.
  • Leads the Run @ Rate process by both company and customer required deliverables. (Burst Builds)
  • Participates in Warranty – weekly reviews at the various customer points & return centers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • PMP Preferred
  • Green Belt certification
  • Experience:

  • 3 years of experience as an Engineer for an automotive manufacturer; or, other manufacturer of similar product structures. IE: Commercial vehicles, ATV, Motorcycle – complex component BOMs.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Cost and price understanding and general knowledge of product change process
  • General understanding of interior trim product and components of products
  • Solid grasp of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
  • Comfort in leading a team setting to discuss actions taken/information needed to execute tasks
  • Ability to summarize actions and next steps via email or open issues matrices
  • Ability to create and present data to support and drive activities for product/ program support.
  • Ability to establish a follow up system to assure timely execution of goals and objectives.
  • Sets the example in customer & Co-worker relationships while nurturing and mentoring .
