POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the day-to-day hands on coordination and accuracy of goods procurement and delivery. This position will directly interact with all departments, including the sales team, customers and suppliers. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory
procurement levels to meet customer needs while minimizing carrying costs. This position works in conjunction with Customer Service providing exemplary customer service to our top tier customers. Provides additional administrative support as required.
 Review customer demand to create and submit purchase orders for delivery and pricing accuracy; minimizing backorders.
 Track supplier purchase orders for delivery, communicating with both internal/external customers.
 Work with carriers to setup shipments of goods for inbound deliveries from suppliers.
 Review and receive signed packing slips and receipt of goods paperwork to ensure accuracy of product posting for quantity.
 Verify freight invoices to the receipt of goods paperwork to ensure accurate freight charges for deliveries.
 Provides daily phone support for customer service by taking inbound calls and conducting outbound calls.
 Provides support to sales, warehouse and finance teams by monitoring supplier performance, generating reports and acting as a liaison between purchasing and internal stakeholders.
 Submits damage inbound goods claims.
 Assists with inventory counts, transfers, adjustments and projects as needed.
 Associates degree in business or related field or equivalent experience.
 Minimum of two years’ experience in a fast paced procurement environment working with suppliers, carriers, and warehouse personnel.
 Prior customer service experience preferred
 Minimum of two years’ experience in ERP/MRP systems.
 Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point. Strong aptitude for working with numbers.
 A high degree of attention to detail and quality. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong business acumen and customer service skills. Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
