Safety Coordinator

  • Plant specific responsibilities for ensuring plant-wide employee safety and meeting environmental program requirements. Conducts inspections of machinery, equipment, and working conditions and conducts employee and supervisor training to ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Inspects plant areas for proper fire prevention, safety or environmental equipment and ensure employees are following related work instructions.
  • Conducts internal audits of process equipment, participates in new equipment safety reviews, and prepares job safety analysis.
  • Prepares or assists in writing work instructions for safety, environmental or property loss activities.
  • Observes employees and contractors to determine the proper use of prescribed safety equipment such as glasses, hard hats, goggles, respirators, and clothing.
  • Coordinates emergency response activities including serving as site emergency coordinator or coordinating local EMA visits.
  • Acts as plant representative for environmental or safety regulatory visits, property loss visits, or ISO inspections. Assists with coordinating visit activities, determining corrective actions, and preparing post-visit reports.
  • Provides guidance on the proper classification, handling, storage and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, chemistry and physics is required.


Your Skills & Strengths


  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university and a minimum four years related manufacturing or industrial experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour training and hazardous waste training is desirable.
  • Qualification as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other environmental or safety certifications is desirable.
