Position Overview:
This position uses knowledge of regulatory requirements to document, assess and make recommendations for the quality and correction of manufactured products. In conjunction with the Operations Leadership, evaluates actions that may inhibit quality and takes corrective measures to insure consistent quality is achieved in the production process. The Quality Manager is the #1 quality person at the plant.  This is a large plant located near Decatur and Champaign-Urbana.  It has a great employee culture and is an industry leader in the product it manufactures.


Job Description

Essential Job Duties:
  • Ensure a high level of accurate internal and external documentation of quality concerns.
  • Investigate and support corrective measures for customer issues relating to quality.
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
  • Formulate, document and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.
  • Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant supervisors to maximize product reliability and contain costs.
  • Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within company.
  • Provide, and oversee, inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.
  • Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
  • Interact with purchasing and vendors to ensure quality of all purchased parts.
  • Maintain active role on internal continuous improvement teams.
  • Design, develop and implement quality control training programs


Qualifications/ Job Requirements:
  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering or similar discipline with a minimum of 5 years of quality-related experience.
  • Training in general safety, foreign object damage awareness, quality system awareness.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification; Black Belt preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and support initiatives.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability for direct and specific communications with Supervisors, other members of Management and production employees.
