Responsibilities 
  • Plan, schedule and procure all materials assigned in order to meet the demand of the customer and maximize production productivity.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers on service, quality, inventory, and material movement.
  • Define and manage standard WIP and inventory levels by implementing and maintaining Kanban and FIFO systems to control the release of material and WIP to and from all responsible areas.
  • Participate with the production team members in achieving Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets.
  • Participate in value stream daily walks and proactively work to resolve problems that arise related to material or WIP issues.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the value stream material coordinators who perform material handling and transactions by establishing standard work and providing training and feedback as needed. (Position is non-supervisory.)
  • Support cycle count activities and lead improvement discussions and actions.
  • Promote and participate in the use of lean techniques and practices such as 5S, material pull systems, value stream mapping, 3P, standard work, root cause problem solving, and variability reduction to eliminate waste and achieve objectives.
  • Utilize Excellence as the keystone of the daily activities required to deliver business results and in establishing a world-class operations organization to support current and future challenges.

Qualifications 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in production control planning or scheduling in a discrete manufacturing environment with experience in both MRP-driven and Lean environments utilizing Kanban-managed supply chain.
  • Minimum 1 year shop floor experience/interaction with operations in a manufacturing environment with working knowledge and training in Lean Manufacturing concepts and techniques. Experience specifically with internal material or WIP pull techniques such as Kanban, Min/Max, supermarket or FIFO systems.
  • Certification through APICS or one of the following preferred: Certified Production Inventory Control Manager (CPICM); Certified Integrated Resource Manager (CIRM); or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP). Certification or training in Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action or Theory of Constraints a strong plus.
