My client services the marine industry so this Product Manager will be very involved in the product development of marine products that service primarily the aftermarket sales channel.  There are technical aspects to this job as the product manager will have a large number of SKU's that deal with engine parts as well as other mechanical components of a boat that can be sold as an aftermarket product.  Candidates should possess experience in stage gate product development and be able to financially justify new products while they are in stage 1.   

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Product Development, the Product Manager (PM) is considered the “CEO” of a set of products or product lines.  The PM will collaborate, partner and direct the cross-functional resources in the areas of sales, marketing, supply chain, pricing, quality and operations. The PM will actively manage current product throughout its lifecycle by identifying and applying the appropriate strategy and tactics. A primary responsibility is to develop new products and services.  To support these the PM will conduct market research; generate product requirements; determine specifications, production timetables, pricing, and time-integrated plans for product introduction; and develop a marketing strategy.  The PM will help drive sales through partnership with field sales teams and/or lead sales efforts where no field sales team exists.

Qualifications

  • BS degree or technical degree
  • 3+ years of product management experience
  • PMP certification
  • Outdoor marine industry experience
