GENERAL SUMMARY/PRIMARY FUNCTION
 
Responsible for making our #1 critical success factor, safety first, a priority in all tasks and activities performed by self and all others involved. Promote Core Values, safety culture and Continuous Process Improvement (CPI). Working under the general direction of the Director of HR - performs HR Generalist functions at a professional level. Provides general support to management and employees pertaining to employment, employee relations, and benefits. Primary duties include administration of human resources activities.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
 
*           Multi-state recruitment, including posting jobs internally and externally, updating job descriptions; following process through closeout of requisition.
*           Screen and assist in interviewing and hiring candidates for open positions. 
*           Consults with supervisors and managers on employee relations, organizational and human resources issues including coaching and disciplinary action.
*           Coordinate and conduct company training.
*           Experience with employee recognition and awards.
*           Maintains HR documentation in Spectrum including processing and scanning pertinent documents.
*           Assist in coordination of onboarding new hires and conduct HR orientation on day one.
*           Completes verifications of employment and other requests requiring employment verification per established processes and procedures.
*           Assists in the administration, communication, and interpretation of policies that relate to the human resources function including, but not limited to, harassment and violence in the workplace, benefits, employment, and paid time off. 
*           Perform additional duties as assigned
 
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 
Must possess a working knowledge of business and human resource practices at a level normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in business administration or human resources management.  Must have a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a human resources role. HR CP certification preferred. Experience in a union environment is helpful.

Demonstrated knowledge of recruitment, training and development, employee relations, HR policies and practices.  Maintain safe work practices.  Maintain and safeguard confidential company information.  Skills require attention to detail, analytical skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.  Must have great interpersonal skills and be able to get along with diverse personalities by being tactful and flexible.  Demonstrated skill working with Microsoft Office and experience in HRIS systems.
