Process Engineer ( Casting )

  • Responsible for vacuum induction melting, continuous and semi-continuous casting process improvements and daily manufacturing engineering support for Manufacturing Supervisors, Maintenance Engineers and the plant floor.
  • Identify and control critical casting process variables through an understanding of the product features developed through interaction with customers and the product development group.
  • Assist with the quote process for new products.
  • Employ disciplined problem solving methods as directed by the engineering group.
  • Support quality program requirements and initiatives as needed (TS16949, ISO 9001, Lean, 8D, etc.).
  • Participate in scrap and waste reduction activities.
  • Support process engineering activities to achieve strategic objectives as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Process Engineer
  • BS degree in Material Science, Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering preferred or associated degree with a minimum of 3-5 years casting experience.
  • Experience with continuous or semi-continuous casting of aluminum or other metals and alloys a plus.
  • Experience in solving manufacturing issues, knowledge of SPC, Measurement System Analysis and process risk reduction.
  • Experience in creating or revising process documents such as FMEA's, Control Plans and standard operating procedures or job instructions.
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience and technical writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams with focus on strategic planning/execution for new products and processes as well as drive continual improvement in safety, quality and productivity for current production
  • Ability and desire to provide daily "hands on" floor support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
