Job Summary--Underwriting Manager- Insurance ( This can be worked remotely )
Manager of Small Group and Individual Underwriting is a multi-function position that (1) has overall responsibility for the day to
day operations of the Small Group and Individual Underwriting components and related business processes while (2) acting as
the enterprise lead for business analysis and development of underwriting and enrollment systems.
The position will require both management ability to oversee the delivery of the small group and individual underwriting
functions plus innovative skills to redesign processes to transform the current underwriting and enrollment functions into an
automated environment.
Small Group Underwriting: The Small Group Underwriting component performs all underwriting activities require to rate
prospect and renewal business for all group business with 2-50 enrolling contracts. .This business segment also reviews all “additions” to existing small and large groups including the assignment of effective dates for those additions. These duties require the ability to effectively review and audit work product,
analyze results, and adjust processes accordingly.
Minimum Job Requirements--Underwriting Manager- Insurance
1. Bachelor’s degree with business, finance, math, statistical, medical or health-related required. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree,
at least five (5) years of experience in underwriting operations.
2. Eight (8) years experience as a health underwriter.
3. Three (3) years leadership/supervisory experience.
4. Must have completed at least one industry courses such as FMLI, ACHU, HIAA, RHU, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
. Knowledge and experience in group health insurance and related products and the ability to analyze underwriting and rating
