Engineering Manager position provides technical leadership for JNA Engineers in the support of market and product plans. This manager will need strong engineering skills, in-depth knowledge of fundamentals and manufacturing, as well as the ability to lead and develop junior engineers.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Work with Manufacturing, Engineering and Sales to develop and implement effective strategies to maintain and grow business and to successfully launch new products effectively
  • Support manufacturing facilities through involvement in product team(s), continuous improvement, problem-solving, and change management. Regular visits to manufacturing facilities in support of own or team member projects as required.
  • Coordinate product specific technical support for Application Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing and Product Team.
  • Manage the staffing and resource allocation for the Product Group.
  • Preparing associates for career growth through performance evaluations and developmental dialogs
  • Lead/support failure and root cause analysis of internal testing, customer or application field issues
  • Manage technical resources to provide accurate and timely bearing analysis, bearing selection, technical proposals, and product validation
  • Develop Supplier’s and their capabilities as required.
  • Drive change through continuous improvement to existing products and procedures.
  • Support and assist in guiding the development of new products and technologies
  • New and innovative solutions for customers,
  • Extensions and breakthrough products.
  • Coordinate the development of new tools & programs to improve the accuracy of analysis and speed to market
 
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Good multitasking capabilities along with proficiency in time and project management skills
  • Ability to lead small groups to meet internal and external goals/objectives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity/training in formalized problem-solving methodologies (Red X, DOE, 8D, etc.)
  • Bearing damage analysis
  • Manufacturing processes
  • Able to read and interpret Engineering Drawings with knowledge of GD&T
  • Understanding of basic gage usage, various inspection techniques, and their limitations (dimensional, noise/vibration, surface finish, hardness, torque, etc, ).
  • Product testing and reporting
  • DFMEA/PFMEA process
  • Self-starter with the willingness to learn new applications and analysis techniques
  • Superior computer skills (Pro-E, Word, Excel, etc.).
Education and Experience:
  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with 5+ years of experience in the bearing field or pertinent automotive industries.
