The Advanced Procurement team is responsible for representing the Supply Chain/Procurement function on New Product teams.  As core team members for these projects, the Advanced Procurement team member is responsible for developing a sourcing plan and supplier strategy, along with Supplier Quality Engineering, to support the requirements of the New Product program. Associate will also ensure our organizations Quality, Delivery, and Cost expectations are followed.
 
Monitor and analyze the industry and commodity costs and understand the performance of corporate suppliers. Maintain New product introduction approval checklist, execute ECN’s, resolve price discrepancies, benchmark supplier and market pricing.
 
This position interfaces with multiple departments and locations, the role will work closely with Program Management, Finance, Supplier Quality, Materials, Distribution Centers, Operations and Engineering.
 
  1. Key Responsibilities
  • Timely, complete, and accurate submittal of component approval (PPAP) and risk buy paperwork. Work effectively with Buyers, Quality, and others to ensure achieving the goal.
  • Obtain all relevant preliminary information to procure parts, materials, equipment, and services necessary for each new product introduction.
  • Ensure suppliers in sourcing plan and supplier strategy for New Products meet the company’s Quality, Delivery, and Cost Requirements and assist in the development of new suppliers where necessary.
  • Collaborate with commodity managers on overall sourcing strategies globally/regionally to ensure suppliers are selected for New Products that align with the team’s strategies and to develop long-term agreements with identified suppliers.
  • Estimate costs of new items and purchased parts costs for development of project financials
  • Execute and coordinate purchase orders for Engineering sample lots, tooling, prototypes and coordinate overall material transition to production with our Materials team.
  • Participate in project budget and schedule discussions with New Product teams to support the team goal and align with realistic expectations of supply base.  Estimate costs of new purchased components for development of project financials.
  • Act as primary interface for Supply Chain/Procurement with the New Product teams and in communication to suppliers.
  • Release capital equipment orders and complete qualification (Tooling, Fixtures, gauges, etc)
  • With New Product design, work with Engineering to reduce/optimize complexity of supply chain/inventory impact through the use of existing parts and off-the-shelf components.
  • Approve and implement Engineering Change Notices for New Products and manage hand-off to Strategic Sourcing and Operations Supply Chain teams.
  • Advise appropriate company personnel on "make or buy" decisions as they relate to procurement costs.
  • Work with suppliers and material department to assure material transition plans are in place to assure savings are maximized while assuring zero obsolesce cost

  • Accountability for on time project launches, cost, system updates/implementation on assigned projects.
    • Suppliers Best Cost/Low Cost Sourcing (BCR/LCR)
    • Alignment of New Product Sourcing Plan to Global/Regional Commodity Strategies and “Grow” Suppliers
 

Qualifications

Background and Skill
          
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related field with technical experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Sourcing, Procurement, and Supplier Management; knowledge of all purchasing functions and how they relate to production and engineering.
  • 2-4 years’ experience with new product introductions, project toll-gates, and timelines for project implementation within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership, management, and teambuilding capabilities with the ability to operate independently, affect change across functions, and have a track record of delivered results (required).
  • Exceptional negotiation, written and verbal communication/presentation skills (required).
  • Highly effective project management skills with a complete understanding of business process and the ability to integrate multiple resources for integrated solutions; execute flawlessly with high attention to detail (required).
